The Bridgewater is back!! This is probably the most requested sandwich on our menu. Michelle who runs our social media says she reliably gets one message per week asking when it will return.
In 2015, Paul and Bryan came up with this sandwich as an homage to the jalapeño poppers at The Charlie Horse, a now-closed tavern in their hometown of Bridgewater, MA.
We couldn’t just make some jalapeño poppers and stuff them into a pita, so instead we borrowed bits and pieces. The jalapeños find their way into a cream cheese spread that we whip til it’s super smooth. We get the fried feeling with cremini mushrooms from Rhode Island Mushroom Co. We fry them and dip them, still hot, into a glaze made from VT honey and Sriracha. To offset all this richness, we add thin ribbons of kale (super sweet this time of year due to the cold weather converting veggies’ starches into sugars) and thin-sliced onions.
Got a food memory you want to turn into a Clover sandwich? Public Food Dev will be returning in the new year, perhaps in a new location : )
