I started this job with a handsaw and an $8 mitering jig. Mitering is cutting corners in things, and a jig for that is just a little box that holds your blade in the right direction.
I bought the cheap plastic jig. Bad idea. Uhgg. It was a hassle, and the corners were coming out terribly. I might have been better off freehand. What I really wanted for this job was a nice industrial bandsaw, but I don’t have one of those.
So I brought this compound saw from my home. I bought this way back when I was making the first side for the MIT truck. It’s also the cheapest of its kind, but it works worlds better than that plastic thing.
