In all my years of camping, my favorite campsite was located in a field of blueberries. It wasn’t near a farm or anything, just a field of wild blueberries. With berries available year round at the grocery store, sometimes you can forget that they have a season and it’s right now! Tart, sweet, creamy. Yay Blueberries!
We’ve been working on this idea to make Meal Boxes that celebrate one fruit or vegetable. We’ll have a Tomato Box, a Corn Box. Maybe even a Pumpkin Box around Halloween, if these prove to be popular.
First up: a Blueberry Box. This one went through a few iterations and we’re excited about where it landed. We were lucky to have Leo at the photo shoot as a taste-tester for the blueberry cream pops : )
In the Blueberry Celebration Box you’ll get blueberry deliciousness for 4, including a:
Summer Blueberry Salad
Yes, you can turn blueberries into a savory dish! You’ll toss Red Fire Farm greens with pecans, blueberries, corn, feta, and a white balsamic vinaigrette that Chris came up with just for this box. This is summer on a plate and you don’t have to turn your oven on. Win-Win.
Blueberry Cream Pops
These put any ice cream truck to shame. Creamy/tangy/sweet blueberry ice pops that you’ll pour and freeze at home (complete with popsicle sticks for optimal nostalgia.)
Lemon-Blueberry Cupcakes
Pour, bake, and decorate lemon cupcakes with a creamy blueberry buttercream frosting. We’re even candying lemon slices to top each one.
Blueberry Switchel
Originally enjoyed by farm workers in our region, switchels are tangy, refreshing, and so much more than your average soda. We’ll give you the switchel syrup, you’ll add soda water and a few berries for garnish.
Plus: a pint of blueberries to do with whatever you wish! Garnish, snack, bake, celebrate blueberries, or take them camping!
Get your box here – there’s one distribution date (July 28) and if you pick up your box instead of having it delivered, we’ll give you $10 in credit towards future Clover food.
